Efficacy & Safety of Sabinsa’s Cirpusins® for Weight Management Demonstrated in Published Study

Recently, an open access article, Efficacy and safety of Cyperus rotundus extract on weight management in obese individuals: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, was published in the journal Medicine Vol. 104, No. 27, November 21, 2025.
A randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study was conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of Cirpusins® (Cyperus rotundus) extract for weight management in 96 obese individuals. Participants who consumed Cyperus rotundus extract 500 mg with 5 mg of BioPerine® (Piper nigrum) twice daily for 90 days, along with a recommended physical activity and diet regimen, saw a significant decrease in body weight, Body Mass Index, waist, and hip circumference. The same active group experienced improvements in their lipid profiles and Apolipoprotein B. This combination was found to be safe with no adverse effects. This study demonstrates the potential of Cyperus rotundus extract with BioPerine® as a natural and safe alternative for weight management in obese individuals.
