Sabinsa, the multi-national health science company known for providing sustainable natural, well-researched ingredients, has taken steps to deepen ties with respected scientific research institutions.

Mr. Shaheen Majeed, Sabinsa Global CEO & Managing Director, recently met with premier institutions in the Indian State of Karnataka regarded for their advanced research, innovations, and excellence in education. The visit was significant in strengthening ties with the institutes through potential collaborations and mutually beneficial partnerships.

Mr. Majeed, accompanied by Dr. Devaraj Reddy, COO, Sami-Sabinsa Group, met with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Mysore and Gandhi Krishi Vigyana Kendra (GKVK), to explore pathways for joint research projects, technology transfers, and internship programs.

At the University of Mysore, Prof. Lokanath N.K., Vice Chancellor of the University, hosted Mr. Majeed and Dr. Reddy for a productive discussion on possible research collaborations in the increasingly important domains of probiotics and synthetic chemistry. The partnership would take advantage of the academia's expertise to drive industry-focused research, initiate cooperation in the emerging areas of synthetics, and exchange knowledge for mutual gain.

At Gandhi Krishi Vigyana Kendra (GKVK), one of the campus and administrative headquarters of UAS (University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore) , Vice Chancellor Dr. S. V. Suresha received Mr. Majeed and discussed plans for collaborative research in the development of high-quality medicinal plants with desired traits. Further, Sami-Sabinsa Group held discussions on associating with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO) in the region that would secure the livelihood of the farmers and provide business access to superior-quality medicinal raw materials.

Following the meeting with the Vice Chancellor at the University of Mysore, Mr. Majeed met with the department heads, Dr. M.P. Sadashiva, Associate Professor, Department of Studies in Chemistry, and Dr. M.Y. Sreenivasa, Professor of Microbiology at the University of Mysore. Dr. M.P. Sadashiva provided an overview of the infrastructure and ongoing research activities at the Chemistry Research Lab. Sami-Sabinsa Group previously donated walk-in fume hoods to the institute for organic molecules synthesis.

“We are excited to embark on these valuable research collaborations with key academic institutes, which is particularly meaningful to me given my father’s deep commitment to this level of research,” said Mr. Majeed. “Through our collective efforts, we can make a profound impact on the sector, our community through cultivation programs and, more importantly, support the next generation of researchers in having access to industry expertise. The Sami-Sabinsa Group will fully embrace this opportunity to advance its research and innovations and help align with its sustainability goals.”
