Boosts students to nurture critical thinking and emphasizes their crucial role in healthcare
Dr. Sarang Bani, Senior Advisor, Biological R&D, Sami-Sabinsa Group, was invited as the Guest of Honour at an orientation program hosted recently by NITTE College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bengaluru.
In his address to students, Dr. Sarang Bani urged the young minds to cultivate a stronger passion for their profession to take advantage of the array of opportunities within reach. He highlighted that a pharmacist’s traditional role of only dispensing medications is expanding, and they are becoming increasingly important in crucial fields such as drug development, conducting clinical trials, evaluating the safety and efficacy of medications, and so on. With perseverance and critical thinking, pharmacists could be part of the broader health care system, he encouraged.
Dr. Sarang Bani in his talk cited late Dr. Muhammed Majeed, an exemplar whose commitment and innovative approach led the nutraceutical industry’s phenomenal growth.
Dr. Sarang Bani highlighted, “With path-breaking innovations, skilled manpower, best-in-class quality standards, and well-established manufacturing base, India is set to play a big role in ensuring global drug security.” “India commands a substantial percentage of the global pharma supply chain and has played a phenomenal role in supplying vaccines and essential medicines during the COVID-19 pandemic,” he added.
Welcoming such academia interactions, Mr. Shaheen Majeed, Sabinsa Global CEO & Managing Director, said “Sami-Sabinsa Group has been collaborating with and supporting academia with the aim of aligning students' competency to industry expectations and accomplishing scientific breakthroughs through knowledge sharing.”
